It is with regret that I am writing to inform you that the board has decided to dissolve La Convivencia recently, an extremely hard decision to make. First and foremost, La Convivencia was a volunteer-run non-profit. The 2020 year was a year of growth despite COVID, and we expanded our work from New Jersey to Michigan. The virtual world gave us an opportunity to bring diverse groups together across the States and have dialogues and work on many pressing issues. With that being said, it was becoming challenging to manage all the work and fulfill the requirements. We did not have sufficient funds to hire someone to help out to do our work more effectively. Any organization cannot sustain and deliver its goals without having enough resources. Furthermore, some advocacy work was not possible through the platform of La Convivencia. But here is the good news: some of our board members are planning to join a similar nonprofit in Princeton, NJ, “the CFPA, Coalition for Peace Action”, and they plan to continue the work of bridge-building through the Coalition for Peace Action. In the near future, you will be receiving the newsletter from this email address, firstname.lastname@example.org. If you wish to no longer receive email from CFPA, you can opt-out anytime by clicking on the “unsubscribe” option that will be at the end of the CFPA newsletter OR if you prefer NOT to have your email address shared with CFPA, please send a brief message at email@example.com before May 8th, 2021.
We wish to thank everyone who has donated their time and money to the success of our efforts over these past four years. All unused funds which have been received are being donated to local charitable organizations and local social advocacy groups (Rise, Arm in Arm, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, CFPA) that we have worked with over the years. I started La Convivencia with my passion for serving humanity and to do my part in advocating for justice and peace and I am committed to it. I definitely have plans to continue my work on social/racial justice, coexistence, and human rights issues through many other platforms.
It was truly an honor, gift, and a pleasure to work for you and all communities across NJ and beyond on various social/racial justice issues and community services projects. I am so proud of all we have accomplished together in the past four years. I appreciate your understanding. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to serve you and for all your support that you provided La Convivencia during this remarkable journey.
