Conversations about race, faith, and cultural differences and similarities can be challenging, complicated and, let’s face it, sometimes uncomfortable. At La Convivencia we know this to be true. But we accept the challenge, acknowledge the complications and choose to be, at times, uncomfortable. We do this because we believe that spiritual growth requires us to step out of our social comfort zone. And we believe that our individual faith, personal character and unique cultural identities are enriched through community service and dialogue with our friends and neighbors of different or “other” faiths, cultures and racial backgrounds. And, what we find through dialogue and service is that we are not so different after all. We believe that when we get to know the “other” in our community and build a sustainable relationship that is when we truly begin to see and know ourselves. Sound interesting? Start here.
